Many patients are extremely apprehensive about going to the dentist. For a wide variety of reasons, some people completely avoid having any dental treatment done.

We provide a safe and effective way to actually enjoy your dental visit. It’s officially called

“Light Perenteral Conscious Sedation”. Most people call it “sleeping through my dental appointment”.

The process is as simple as taking a pill. Dr. Shoup will prescribe a tablet called Halcion. This sleep aid has been used for many years. It is exceptionally safe and produces a very restful sleep.

Here is how it works: You take one tablet the night before your appointment and enjoy a great nights’ sleep. One hour before your appointment you will take another tablet. Bring the tablets with you to the office because depending on your comfort level, we may have you take another tablet.

You absolutely must have someone to drive you to the office and then home. You cannot drive if you take this medicine.

The vast majority of people sleep through the entire visit and remember very little of the experience. No Pain, No Gagging, No Tension, No Problem!

We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for a lighter sedation. You breathe this gas through a mask over your nose. There a no side effects, so you can drive after the appointment. Many of our patients really like the relaxed feeling they achieve with nitrous oxide, and head back to work feeling refreshed.
